A Full English afternoon

So I must say I won't be getting up at three in the morning to watch the Royal wedding tomorrow. Although I am a little intrigued. No doubt helped by my vague childhood memory of my mother waking me from my bed at an ungodly hour to watch the wedding of Princess Di on a tiny fuzzy television screen.

I'm more than happy to watch the edited clips instead. But in honor of the Royal Wedding I will share a fun place a friend and I visited last weekend called Full English, a British café offering high tea and full English breakfast, hidden away in a corner of Austin, Texas.

Full English is a completely eclectic spot with cinder block walls painted light pink, decorated in quilts and union jacks. We sat in these two chairs crocheting granny squares, chatting, drinking Earl Grey, and eating insanely good cookie bars called millionaire shortbread.

So, a token honoring the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton... I bring thee a recipe for Millionaire Shortbread

  1. What a cute place! I must say, I'll be watching the wedding--but I won't have to get up at 3 a.m.!

  2. Oooo I love Millionaires Shortbread! I shall be on a train during the wedding so will not be watching it. I'm sure I'll catch the highlights at some point though. Watching the news this morning they were taking a full grown tree into Westminister Abbey - I'm curious to what that's all about!

  3. Would it surprise you to know that I really couldn't care less about the big royal event? That doesn't mean, however, I am above enjoying a good afternoon tea; if I had sweetened condensed milk in the house, the Millionaire's Shortbread would have already been made!

  4. Oh what a lovely cafe ... I love little places like that.
I'm not watching the wedding either ... I figure I'll find out if anything major happened as it trickles through the media.
