Bonjour friends. I have made it through the worst of it - surgery for endometriosis and days of lazing around while getting better. Everything went as well as I could hope and I'm so grateful for that. I'm still under a haze. This kind of physical stress affects me for awhile, it makes me feel more quiet and dark and small than usual. I'm hoping to emerge from it soon, but it might be another week or so.
It's been hard to even enjoy the usual things, but I have had a few amusements.
Several horrid movies. A freaky french film - Don't Look Back. This movie sort of freaked me out and yet once I started watching it I couldn't stop, then felt slightly disappointed by the end. An artsy fartsy film that failed to deliver - Crazy Heart. Sorry, hard for me to like the main characters, just is. A terrible rom-com - The Bounty Hunter. Granted, I was expecting it to be bad. But none of them was quite right for lightening things up.
But I have been enjoying some light reading with Outlander by Diana Gabaldon at the recommendation of friends and Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death by M.C. Beaton at the recommendation of Alison from Brocante Home. I'm not sure what I think of Outlander yet, but Agatha Raisin has cracked me up - she's such a great character - lovably imperfect.
I hope you're all enjoying the pre-holiday excitement and bustle... I hope I'll be enjoying it soon too.
Glad you're through the surgery and most of the recovery. Hope the spirit of the season fills you up with joy and peace very soon. Thinking about you...
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear your surgery went well and you're resting and recovering. Hopefully you will be feeling better before Christmas... being sidelined during a Holiday is no fun.
